Future of WordPress

In WP Legends Episode 134, Gonçalo Lourenço, Head of Cloud DevOps and R&D at Namecheap/Spaceship, shares how his team approaches the invisible work that keeps hosting platforms reliable at scale. From infrastructure and automation to incident response and delivery speed, his role sits at the intersection of DevOps, R&D, and platform trust.

We explore EasyWP, Spaceship, managed WordPress hosting, malware detection, abuse prevention, AI-assisted development, and where hosting is heading next. The conversation also dives into abstraction in hosting, why users shouldn’t have to worry about infrastructure, and how AI is transforming the way teams build, ship, and scale products.
